Have you ever gotten so swept up in all the things you’re “supposed” to do that you lose sight of what it is that you want to do? Lose sight of the things that light that fire in your belly, that make you wake up in the morning excited to start the day and feel energized for what you get to do?
That’s what happened to me.
For years now, I went all in on the things I was supposed to do, only dabbling in the things that truly inspired me. I held on to just enough that I’ve got enough of a skeleton of a plan to say, “Let’s do this the way I’ve always wanted to do it.”
Well. Almost.
I’m not quitting my day job – yet. But I have made some pretty big decisions about what I want my career to look like and what I actually want to do with my life. It’s taken a lot of soul searching. If you want to hear more about that process, drop me a comment.
I’ll be sticking with my day job – running a corporate well-being program for more than 1,700 people – until I feel like my entrepreneurial endeavors are sustainable. What can I say? I like to eat.
So what does this look like? I’m transforming Badass Is the New Skinny into digital/virtual health coaching where I work with clients who are ready to change the way they think about weight and health and shine a light on their inner badass. This means:
- Lots of free info to help you figure out what the hell they want to do.
- Digital, self-guided coaching tools to empower you to be the badass that you are and feel good in your body so you can focus your attention and energy on the things that really matter.
- Digital courses and workshops for a little more guidance and coaching.
- One-on-one coaching via video call, text, or email. (The Zoom fatigue is real, y’all, and I’m all for alternative methods that still provide some one-on-one support.)
- A membership community for you to connect with other badasses and learn from each other.
- Whatever else fires up my spirit.
I’d like to be clear about what my end-goal is, here. I want to help as many people as possible escape the life-long trap that diet culture creates and help people like you feel your best, inside and out. “Badass” means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, so you get to define for yourself what it means, and I want to help you get there.
In doing so, I am striving to build a sustainable business that allows me to give back to the badasses who may not have the luxury of focusing on themselves in this way. Being able to work with coaches is a privilege, and it shouldn’t be. It should be accessible to all. Because feeling good, healthy, and well is crucial to helping you succeed in other areas of your life. It’s hard to go to work when you don’t feel well. And in the words of my mother:
If you don’t go to work, you don’t get paid. You don’t get paid, you don’t eat. You don’t eat, you starve. You starve, you die.
It sounds dramatic, but it was always said lightheartedly. The point is, the part that’s missing is that how you feel in your body affects how your show up in your work and the success (and money to live) that comes from that. But it’s hard to focus on that if you’re not sure how you’re going to pay rent or pay for groceries.
So the bigger goal behind Badass Is the New Skinny is to get to a point where coaching tools and resources are more accessible and inclusive. It’s about empowerment. I want to be a part of your life just long enough for you to know and believe that you’ve got this.
I’m going to go into more detail about this in its own post. For now, just know the plans are big!
All of this will make more sense as I get my shit together and start producing actionable content for you and other badasses like you. There’s so much more to come, and I’m so excited for what the future holds. The only thing I ask of you is to join me on the journey, engage in what matters to you, speak up about what type of coaching and guidance you need and you’re not getting, what your barriers are, and anything that you think contributes to this conversation.
Badass Is the New Skinny has found its true calling. It’s wellness with attitude. (Respectfully. Be your badass self, but bullies and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. This is a space for supportive attitude. Thank you!)
Until next time, kick ass today, and smile like you got away with something.
